![]() Graeme was an avid reader who loved knowledge and never stopped learning. ![]() He excelled at high school track and field and softball. In his younger days, Graeme played hockey for the Strait Pirates and the Port Hood Bees. After returning home to Cape Breton he was deputy sheriff of Inverness County for many years. Graeme worked for a number of years in Calgary and Edmonton. Besides his parents, Dan Lewis and Annabelle (Macdonald) Macdonald, he was predeceased by his sister, Flora MacLaughlin and brothers Ranald and Allan. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Holder and Morag Graham brothers, Lewis and Donald Andrew. He is survived by daughters, Tiffany and Mariann, and his former wife Lynn (Martell) Macdonald. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Graeme Macdonald of Port Hood, on April 7th, 2023, in Inverness Consolidated Hospital. We, the family, would like to say an immense thank you to the staff of all departments of Inverary Manor for all the care and support they have provided during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Funeral Co-operative, Margaree Valley. Memorial donations can be made to Inverness County Palliative Care or Parkinson’s Research Canada. A family service will be held at the Wilson United Church Cemetery at a later date with Dale Crawford officiating. There are many other cousins, too numerous to mention. Another special cousin, Iris (Robert) Morton predeceased him. Lorne also leaves behind his aunt, Jean Burns his loving cousin/sister Valerie (Wendel Shepherd) and very special cousins, Ian (Gert) MacKinnon, Barry (Karen) MacKinnon, Rosalyn (George) Coady. Lorne is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Cheryl daughters Melanie (Chris Graten), Christena (Alex Green), and Jillian(Johnathon MacLeod) grandchildren, MacKenzie, Seth, Sasha, Leela, and Eleanor. Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Frances MacDonald his parents-in-law, Bill and Lorraine Phillips aunts, Hughena, Peggy, Martha uncles Neil and Ross. When he wasn't spending time with his family, he could always be found making sure that it was spotless. During that time, many amazing friendships were forged. Lorne was employed by Mac-Ing Construction for over 40 years. Lorne was raised in Margaree Valley and moved to Margaree Centre in 1969 after marrying the love of his life, Cheryl Phillips.
